What's on in Chipstead
Our Chipstead Beginners /All Abilities 10-Week course runs three times a year across our autumn, spring, and summer terms. Sessions take place at Chipstead Cricket Club — a lovely, venue with easy parking overlooking the cricket green.
Each session runs for three hours, once a week, giving you plenty of time to get stuck into your artwork without feeling rushed. We cover a wide variety of subjects and mediums across the ten weeks — from pencil drawing and charcoal to watercolours, pastels, and acrylics — so every session brings something new to explore.
Everything is taken care of
One of the things students tell us they love most is how genuinely easy we make it to just turn up and create. All art materials and paper are included in the price. Refreshments are provided throughout, as we know how important tea and biscuits are.
Every student receives lots of 1-2-1 guidance from our tutors.
Who comes to our Chipstead classes?
Our students are a wonderfully varied group. Many are retired adults living locally who've always meant to give art a go. Others are returning to painting after years away. Some simply want something sociable, and relaxing to fit into their busy week.
What they all have in common is a love of being creative!
Meet your tutors
Our Chipstead classes are led by June our Head Tutor who has worked as an artist, and graphic designer for all of her working life. She paints in various mediums and is a big advocate for traditional drawing skills and loves it when those she teaches go from saying ‘I was told I can’t draw,’ to realising they can.
You'll be guided through demonstrations, given one-to-one support during each session, and encouraged at every step — whether you're holding a paintbrush for the first time or looking to develop a skill you already have.
Our tutors are professional artists themselves, and love sharing their knowledge and skills.
